Position Summary

Responsibilities: 

  • Project Management: Work on projects related to process redesign, facility layout, or production optimization.
  • Quality Control: Coordinate quality control objectives and activities (inspection, measurement, testing) to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize costs.
  • Routing and Configuration: Develop routing configurations and industrial engineering requirements.
  • Layout Design: Draft and design layouts for equipment, materials, and workspace to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Production Support: Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and lead times to facilitate production activities.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
 
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Process Improvement: A strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Be adept at analyzing workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (such as Minitab, Excel, or Python) is essential. Use data to make informed decisions, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement.

  • CAD Software: Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for creating layouts, designing workspaces, and optimizing equipment placement.

  • Project Management:  Strong project management skills.

  • Communication: Demostrate effective communication with cross-functional teams, presenting findings, and implementing changes. Industrial engineers must convey complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment. This includes knowledge of machining, assembly, welding, and other production techniques.

  • Quality Control: Familiarity with quality control methods, inspection procedures, and root cause analysis is beneficial.

 

Requirements

Experience:

  • Previous Experience: Prior experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or related fields preferred. Experience in a similar role within the automotive or trailer industry is preferred including relevant experience through internships or co-ops.

  • Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt can enhance preferred.
