ROLE DETAILS

The AM Applications Engineer will be responsible for leveraging LPBF technical knowledge and skills in support of machine sales. You will work closely with customers, partners, and internal teams to create AM solutions and quality parts which in turn accelerate business growth and increase customer satisfaction. The AM Applications Engineer is an onsite position at our Camarillo, California facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structured development, reporting and sharing of part manufacturing strategies
  • Operating and supervising our systems
  • Monitoring print processes and reliability, analyzing deviations and proposing improvement opportunities
  • Power user of Magics build setup software. Knowledge or experience in additional platforms (e.g., Netfabb, 3DXpert) preferred
  • Expert level machine operation to print to most difficult part candidates
  • Interface with engineering for customer specific needs
  • Meet project deadlines through coordination of the additive manufacturing process
  • Defining, executing and reporting of materials characteristics quality testing and printing of actual parts
  • Evaluating end-user test parts in design for additive manufacturing, prepare and execute part printing on the test systems
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time, including overnight travel
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and U.S. Passport
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. under ITAR compliance statutes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics or equivalent field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in metal additive manufacturing with an emphasis on build design and set-up
  • Experience using Materialise Magics, NetFabb or 3DXpert software programs
  • Experience in the application of design for additive manufacturing
  • Experience independently reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Experience providing systems demonstrations in a sales process (preferred)
  • Materials knowledge of metals and alloys
